Delay Pilot separates fixed compensation from care, refund and rerouting rights. Your individual flight, route, timing and cause determine the final position.
UK passenger-rights rules can give travellers several different protections when a flight is disrupted. Fixed compensation is only one of them. Depending on the flight and what happened, an airline may also owe care while you wait, a refund, or rerouting to your destination.
Does UK261 apply to your flight?
UK261 generally covers flights departing from a UK airport on any airline, flights arriving in the UK on a UK or EU airline, and flights arriving in the EU on a UK airline.
The four questions to separate
- Compensation: Was the disruption severe enough and was the airline responsible?
- Care: Are meals, refreshments, communication, accommodation or transport due while you wait?
- Refund: Can you choose not to travel and recover the unused ticket price?
- Rerouting: If your flight is cancelled, what replacement travel must the airline offer?
Delay Pilot reports these separately so a passenger is not told “no compensation” when they may still have immediate rights.

Was your flight delayed or cancelled?
Eligibility depends on the route, arrival delay and the reason for the disruption. Check the individual flight before assuming the wider incident determines the outcome.
